Warning: Racist Slurs
Dear diary I convinced Mom to allow me to let the Grants come over for supper. She finally relented..took her long enough. But first I should explain what I told my dragon-phoenix niblings
At first I thought of telling them a story.. but then I decided not too.. I told them the straight truth about stuff. They might not understand it now-but they might understand in the future.. I said "that word you keep insulting each other with? I don't want you to use it since it relates to slaves..that places like Oasis Springs used to have. It comes from the term used for the white overseers from those countries and those overseers sometimes used a whip which made a 'crack' sound..so.. you see?" Rex asked "What is being a slave like?" I then said, "you might want to ask your mother.. even though none of us were around in the 1800s-your mother has some experienced due to other reasons- of being a slave elsewhere." He kind of was shocked about that
I then gather up my courage and told Mom that if it wasn't for Jacob I wouldn't be there.. right now.. so Mom allowed me to invite the Grants for supper
I decided to cook for our Grant-Swanson party. I also told my sister she should take her children out of the house. Apparently, they are going to stay at the empty house next door which used to be Molly's and Alex's.
First I cooked home-cooked meals. Then it was time for the Dinner to start and then Emma went and talking to one of my parent's Meal started with the friendly conversation mostly about taking Ms. Baker, the other now former slave, free but in the middle of the conversation for some reason Mom and Mr. Grant started arguing about ethnic races. The final straw for Mom was when Mr. Grant said "your youngest child can't decide whether she's a coolie-chopstick or a curry- cow-kisser!!" Then mom realized that this entire time she been as racist as Mr. Grant.
So after the supper she told me she would allow me to marry Jacob and live in the house. So for a week later I made plans for a house party..everyone showed up!! Then I proposed to Jacob -I know its improper for a lady to do that.. But he still accepted my proposal!!
