4.3 School Project part 2

Note: Please me aware that most of the history I talk about is based on reality but I'm changing part of it for in-story purposes.

Dear diary, I'm sad and happy at the same time. I'm lost my soccer position due to an injury so I'm unable to go back to it.  But I should go back to the beginning, shouldn't I?

From the age of six, I have always played Soccer-I was the best player on the team  The Widenburg Kittens.  To the point at practices, Teammate Clara Fogel would complain to Coach Isabella about how I kept hogging the ball and not allowing others to have turns scoring.  Coach Isabella tried to tell her off but it didn't work and she still complained which made Coach Isabella say some nasty things which including the "n" word to me as well as something about "I will end up in jail where I belong" I had no clue what that was about. Still don't.  Why do I suspect that my parents (and my grandparents when they're still alive) are keeping stuff from us?  Well anyway, Cousin Raven (oh was also a teammate) told the coach off that I already had enough problems to deal with without the coach saying nasty things like that.

Right before the 13th birthday of Cora and I, the family went to the same rental cottage where our parents got engaged!. It expanded a lot since they were there magical maybe?  Then it was our birthday

I then joined Team Lynx and we had our 3rd match this time it was against the Newcrest Boars.  Well anyway during the match-I got so badly injured I was taken away in an ambulance and I was told by the doctor to stay off my foot for several months.   He also gave me a science book called "The Disappearing Spoon: And Other True Tales of Rivalry, Adventure, etc"

It was embarrassing having to use the crutches since I tripped as soon as a got home with them. Mom told me if I could manage some months without having to do stuff -the parents would get me my own horse!

A schoolmate Blaine came over and said We (he and I) been assigned to do 60s scoop for a school project. I did some research as did he and I then wrote up the essay

60s SCOOP

In the late 50s and even now the governments of the Royal States of American and the Royal Provinces of Canada both well for lack of a better term stole or basically kidnapped Indigenous child from their families and placed them in white families to like what the residential schools did to "stop the Native in the child".   This is known as the 60s Scoop. In some cases, single Indigenous women who had recently given birth were coerced into giving up their children under the pretence that they could have the child back when they're "on their feet again". But when they (the mothers) go to get their child back they found that the child been adopted out.  It's very similar to how some parents of Home Children were shocked to found out their children were gone overseas after dropping them off until they got on their feet..  In other cases, due to social workers,  middle-class European training children were taken away because of "not probably meeting children's needs" (something which is still happening in other forms against other Black/People of Colour) since the social workers aren't used to seeing a home without a Fridge.   And up until recently social workers could take the children without telling the families. Does that spell "kidnapping" anyone?

This was at a time that the governments realized that the residential schools were harmful to families and thought it was best for the Idengious children to be put into the public school system. The residential schools still remained as boarding schools for some children.   Like black and POC children of today, Indengious children were overrepresented in foster care systems.

They were placed into white families and sometimes the children placed into the white families' care were told they had Jewish or Italian ancestry. Since the Adoptive parents were told to "erase the roots" of the children-even to the point of changing their names.
But like in the residential school cases a lot of these children were abused-either physically or otherwise. Also like a lot of foster care stories, these children were a lot of the terms a sort of servant to their adoptive family.  Sure there were some families which were good for Ingenious children to a point- but that's not the point.

Much like in the Residental schools some of the children taken during the 60s scoop couldn't understand English or French languages so were considered "slow" or even as one of my elementary teachers called my friend Wyatt "retard" despite his family having been here for three years.

So like the residential schools they supposedly replaced a lot of the Ingenious folks of Royal States and Provinces of America and Canada are still dealing with PTSD and other issues because of being taken away from their real parents. Hopefully, this get fixed within the next couple of years

Over the months since Blane and I got really involved with each other in more than a platonic sense.   We had a coffee date at first in my home and then after I was allowed to go out more he took me out on a picnic. He made sure I didn't stand on my foot a lot.

But during the times I wasn't with him I was reading the book that the doctor gave me and it got me really hooked on chemistry. So I'm thinking of seeing about becoming a chemist for a career. And my parents did get me my own horse and it was wonderful trying to bond with it!  But when I'm totally back on my feet again  I have to get a job to support it since my parents wouldn't pay for the food it costs so like my distant great uncle Derek I'm going to become manual labour on the two weekend days leaving me the rest of the week to play with the horse.
